Make changes to questions after they're used in a review
Before you start
Review templates become locked (in use) after they're used in a review cycle. When templates lock, the question also locks and becomes in use. You can only make cosmetic changes to in use questions, such as changing the wording or description. You can't edit the response type or optionality of an in use question. We lock these components of in use questions because they define how each question is stored in our database. Changing these components would impact your historic review data.
Note: In use templates have a lock icon next to their name.
Edit an in use question
Step 1: Duplicate the template that contains the question(s) you want to edit.
Step 2: Select or hover over the question you want to edit, and then use the gray pages button to duplicate the question.
Step 3: Make the desired changes to the copy of the question.*
*You can tell it apart from the original because it'll say (copy) at the end of the question text. You can edit every element of the copy, including response type and optionality.
Step 4: Save your changes with the blue Save button.
Step 5: Select or hover over the original in use question and use the gray trashcan button to remove it from the template.
Step 6: Use the Update template button to save your changes.*
*The new version of the question will be added to the question bank when the template is updated. You may want to archive the original in use question in the question bank if you don't plan on using it in future reviews.
