Before admins can create a compensation cycle, they must upload employee pay data. There are two ways to upload employee pay data: upload manually via CSV or sync compensation default fields from your HRIS.

Before you start

Upload employee pay data

  1. Navigate to the employee pay upload modal via one of the following pages:

    • Compensation Settings

      1. Navigate to Admin > Compensation > Settings.

      2. Under Employee compensation, next to Employee base pay and variable pay, select Upload CSV.

    • Employee Pay page

      1. Navigate to Admin > Compensation > Employee Pay.

      2. Select Upload pay data > Upload employee pay.

  2. Download the Employee CSV template and input the necessary fields.

  3. Upload the updated CSV.

  4. Select Save.

  5. Review the results of the upload within the Employee pay page.

Required and optional fields

The following fields are required when uploading employee pay data:

  • Name (employee Preferred Full Name)

  • Email (case sensitive)

  • Base pay amount (remove commas)

  • Pay effective date (YYYY-MM-DD)

  • Pay type (Salary or Hourly)

While it is not required to include values for Variable Pay or Bonus Amounts, these columns must remain in the CSV template. If you are not uploading this data, you can leave these fields blank. Removing these column headers will result in an error when uploading the file.

While it is not required, Variable Pay or Bonus Amounts should also be uploaded before creating a compensation cycle. Learn more in Key Terms for Compensation.
