Set up Lattice MCP with Glean

Lattice MCP will be available in Glean in mid-September.

These steps must be completed by an administrator before members of your organization can connect Lattice MCP to Glean.

Admin setup

In Lattice

Create a custom MCP Server in Lattice

  1. Go to Admin > Platform > MCP Server.

  2. Select Add MCP Server.

  3. Copy the Client ID and the Client Secret and securely save these

  4. Select Done, I've copied my credentials.

  5. Paste in the Redirect URL(s) from Glean following steps In Glean below and return here to continue.

  6. Select Add.

  7. Select Complete.

Tips and Useful Information

  • Name your MCP Server Glean. A custom MCP Server in Lattice represents a connection to one specific AI system, so it is recommended to name it after the system you are connecting to.

  • About the Redirect URL: This is called a “Callback URL” in Glean and is specific to your Glean tenant you’re connecting to. A Glean system's administrator will need to provide it. Lattice uses it during login to securely send a temporary access code back to Glean, confirming that you have logged in and granted permission.

  • About the Client Secret: Treat any Client Secret carefully. Store it in the encrypted password vault or one-time link service recommended by your IT team. Do not paste it into a document, an email, or a chat. If a secret is ever exposed, you can generate a new one, which immediately severs any system still using the old one.

In Glean

  1. Open the Glean Admin Console.

  2. Go to Platform > Tools.

  3. Open the Vendor Provided Tools (via MCP) tab.

  4. Select Add.

  5. Under Browse built-in servers, select the Lattice MCP server.

  6. Paste in the Lattice Client ID and Client Secret you obtained from your Lattice account in the In Lattice setup above

  7. Copy the Callback URL from Glean and paste it into the Redirect URL(s) field in Lattice

  8. Review the server configuration and connect to Lattice when prompted.

  9. Review the available Lattice tools.

  10. Select Edit settings and enable the tools you want to make available in Glean.

  11. Select Save.

Glean uses the term tools for the capabilities available through an MCP server. You can make tools available in Glean Assistant and, where applicable, Glean Agents. Tool availability is governed by your organization’s Glean settings and each user’s Lattice permissions.

Individual setup

Once an administrator has enabled Lattice MCP in Lattice and configured the tools in Glean, you can connect your Lattice account.

  1. In Glean, open Assistant.

  2. Ask Glean to use a Lattice tool, such as: Search Lattice for my current goals.

  3. When prompted, select the Lattice authorization link.

  4. Enter your Lattice subdomain and select Continue.

  5. Log in to Lattice.

  6. Review the permissions Lattice asks you to grant:

    1. View employee information via MCP

    2. View feedback via MCP

    3. View goals via MCP

    4. View Grow competencies and tracks via MCP

    5. View and write meetings via MCP

    6. View and write performance reviews via MCP

    7. View and write updates via MCP

  7. Select Authorize to grant these permissions.

  8. Return to Glean and retry your request.

You have successfully connected Lattice MCP to Glean when Glean can use the Lattice tool and return results from your Lattice account.

You can now ask Glean questions about your Lattice data or use Lattice tools in Glean workflows. All results and actions respect the permissions assigned to you in Lattice.
