Custom role goals permissions allow admins to give specific employees admin-like access to the Goals tool.

There are two types of permissions an admin can set for custom role owners:

  • Company-wide: Permission will apply to all users

  • Targeted: Permissions only apply to the subset of employees that the admin has selected for the role owner. The role member(s) will not have access to the private information of other employees that fall outside of this subset

Learn how to configure custom role admin permissions in Set Up Custom Role Admin Permissions.

Company-wide permissions

The Company-wide Goals permission allows custom role owners to manage Goals for all users.

1. Goals admin

The Goals admin permission allows custom role owners to have full access to the Goals tool.

Permissions include:

2. Manage company or department goals

The Manage company or department goals permission allows custom role owners to create company and department goals that are visible to all users in the company.

Permissions include:

3. Manage company goal cycles

The Manage company goal cycles permission allows custom role owners to manage goal cycles for the company.

Permissions include:

Targeted permissions

The Targeted permissions allow custom role owners to manage goals for a subset of employees.

1. View private goals

The View private goals permission allows the custom role owner to view the private goals for employees in their target group but does give managing permissions.

Permissions include:

2. Manage public and private goals

The Manage public and private goals permission allows the custom role owner to manage the goals for employees in their target group.

Permissions include:

  • View target employee public and private goals

  • Create target employee public and private goals, including group goals

  • Edit target employee public and private goals

  • Delete target employee public and private goals

  • Update target employee public and private goals even when they are not owners

  • View Goals reporting for target employee group

Custom role owner view

If only employee specific permissions have been enabled, the custom role owner will automatically get visibility to their target group within the Goals page.

If global permissions have been enabled, the custom role owner will have an admin page they can access by clicking Switch to admin. Within the admin page, they will only see the Goals tool.

Custom role owner view for goals. The admin page is opened to the Goals tool. Three sub pages can be seen: Goal cycles, Tags, and Settings.
