Configure Custom Role Reviews Permissions

A
Written by Adam Kroboth

Custom role reviews permissions allow admins to give specific employees admin-like access to the Reviews tool.

There are two types of permissions an admin can set for custom role owners:

  • Company-wide: Permission will apply to all users

  • Targeted: Permissions only apply to the subset of employees that the admin has selected for the role owner. The role member(s) will not have access to the private information of other employees that fall outside of this subset

Learn how to configure custom role admin permissions in Set Up Custom Role Admin Permissions.

Company-wide permissions

1. Manage owned review cycles

The Company-wide Manage owned review cycles permission allows custom role owners to manage reviews for all users, only for review cycles that they create.

Permissions include:

Note: Custom role owners will have visibility and action power into review cycles they created, including automated rules cycles.

2. Manage performance review cycles without results visibility

The Company-wide Manage performance review cycles without review visibility allows custom role owners to create, edit, and manage organization-wide performance review cycles without giving them the ability to view review responses, results, promotions or calibration data.

Permissions include:

Note: This permission can be paired with a Targeted Permission, such as View and export performance reviews, to allow you to grant the targeted permission (which hides certain results) while still providing access to certain groups’ results. For example, as an HR team member, you could view company-wide data but not see your own HR team’s results.

3. Reviews and calibrations admin

The Reviews and calibrations admin permission allows custom role owners to manage and access review cycles and calibration for all employees.

Permissions include:

4. Manage all talent reviews

The Manage all talent reviews admin permission allows custom role owners to manage and access talent reviews for all employees.

Permissions include:

Targeted permissions

The Targeted permissions allow custom role owners to manage reviews for a subset of employees.

1. View and export performance review results

The View and export performance review results permission allows the custom role owner to view the review cycles of their target group.

Permissions include:

  • Access to review packets

  • Access to the review context panel when reviewing a target employee

  • Access to the Results page

  • Access to peer selection

  • Access to any calibration groups for target employees

  • Access to view and export packets from public profile pages

2. Manage performance reviews

The Manage performance reviews permission gives the custom role owner access to an upcoming, active, or ended review cycle for their target group. However, there are some actions the role owner can take that will impact all employees within the review cycle.

The Admin page will only be visible to custom role owners if the review cycles include target group members as reviewees.

Note: To see a detailed view of the permission and who each action impacts, read Manage Employee Reviews Custom Role.

Permissions include:

In the Peer Nomination phase, permissions include:

  • Launch peer selection and send notifications to everyone

  • Remove and add peer approvers for their target group. Peer approvers can be outside their target group.

  • Send peer nomination reminders to everyone

  • End the peer nomination phase for everyone

In the Reviews phase, permissions include:

In the Share phase, permissions include:

3. View and edit calibration

The View and edit calibration permission gives the custom role owner the ability to manage calibration for their target group.

Note: Custom role owners cannot view, edit or create groups for individuals that you are outside of your target group.

Permissions include:

4. Administer calibration

The Administer calibration permission gives role owners admin permissions to manage calibration in a review cycle.

Permissions include:

5. Approve promotion nominations.

The Approve promotions nominations permission gives role owners admin permissions to approve promotion nominations submitted by managers during a review cycle.

Custom role owner view

The custom role owner will have an admin page they can access by clicking Switch to admin. Within the admin page, they will only see the Performance tool.
