What are Cascading Goals?
Cascading goals are a way to align goals in Lattice. For example, employees can use cascading goals to align their personal initiatives with the success of the entire organization. You can also use cascading goals to align company goals with department goals.
Note: If you were a Lattice user before the cascading goals functionality was launched, you will want to reach out to Customer Care to enable this feature
Turning on Cascading Goals
Once cascading goals have been turned on, you will be able to align your goals by completing the following steps:
Step 1: Navigate to the "Admin" panel
Step 2: Click into "Goals" and then "Settings" in the dropdown menu
Step 3: Scroll down until you reach "Cascading Goals" and click "Enable"
Step 4: If everything looks good, click on "Enable cascading goals"
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What happens to cascading goals if you disable this feature in your account? Will the relationship between aligned goals remain intact?
A: Disabling the cascading goals feature after goals have been aligned can break the relationship between parent and child goals. Depending on the extent of the alignment, child goals and their corresponding key results may be converted into the key results of the top-level parent goal. Therefore, we do not recommend disabling this feature after it's turned on.
Once you disable cascading goals, you will not be able to align parent and child goals, and you will no longer have the cascading tree view in your Goals Explorer page.
