Once compensation bands have been created, admins can assign employees to the bands. If compensation bands are part of your compensation review process, employees must be assigned to a compensation band in order for the data to appear in a compensation cycle.
Admins can also bulk assign employees to compensation bands. Learn more in Bulk Assign Employees to Compensation Bands.
Note: All compensation band assignments are managed via employees' assigned job architecture fields: Job Function, Job Type, Job Level, and (optionally) Pay Zone. This information can be seen and updated in the employees' profiles in the Directory, as well as in the Employee Pay page. Updating a user's Job Architecture values in either location will impact their compensation band assignment as well as any aligned Grow tracks.
Since compensation band assignments are based on job architecture, the method to update a compensation band assignment is the same as updating an employee's job architecture fields.
Update an employee's compensation band if synced to an HRIS
If job architecture fields are linked to an HRIS, the HRIS will be considered the source of truth. Therefore, you can only change the job architecture values and compensation band assignments within your HRIS. This is indicated by grayed-out job architecture fields with the sync icon when attempting to edit employee profiles directly in the platform.
After making the desired changes within the HRIS, the fields will be updated once the HRIS integration syncs which will update their compensation band assignment.
Update an employee's compensation band if not synced to an HRIS
If Job Function, Job Type, Job Level, and (optionally) Pay Zone are not synced to an HRIS, the assignments can be updated manually in two locations. Making a change in either location will update across all areas in Lattice.

- Navigate to Admin > Directory.
- Search and click on the employee to enter their profile.
- Expand the Role details category.
- Hover over the Job Architecture fields and click the edit pencil icon to assign Job Function, Job Type, and Job Level that align with the desired Compensation Band.
