Once compensation bands have been created, an admin can assign employees to the bands. If compensation bands will be part of your compensation review process, employees must be assigned to a compensation band in order for the data to appear in a compensation cycle.
Admins can manually assign individual employees to compensation bands. Learn more in Assign Employees to Compensation Bands.
The steps to assign employees to compensation bands will be the same as bulk updating employees by CSV.
Note: All compensation band assignments are managed via employees' assigned Job Architecture fields: Job Function, Job Type, Job Level, and (optionally) Pay Zone. This information can be seen and updated in the employees' profiles in the Directory, as well as in the Employee Pay page. Updating an employee's Job Architecture fields in either location will impact their compensation band assignment as well as any aligned Grow tracks.
Note: If Job Architecture fields are synced to an HRIS, the HRIS will be considered the source of truth. Fields should be updated in the HRIS and will automatically update upon the next sync.
- (Optional) To view your current compensation bands, navigate to Compensation > Compensation Bands, click the settings gear icon > Export bands. Use this as a reference guide as you assign employees to the correct Job Architecture values.
- Navigate to Admin > Directory.
- Click Download CSV to export all current employee data.
- Ensure you have columns for Job Architecture fields and fill in the assignments to match the correct compensation bands.
- The following fields are required and the column header naming must match:
- Job function
- Job type
- Job level
- Pay zone (optional, only required if compensation bands have a Pay Zone assigned)
- The following fields are required and the column header naming must match:
- Save the updated CSV file and navigate back to Lattice.
- On the Directory page, click Add Employees > Import via CSV.
- Click Skip this step to go directly to the importer.
- Click Upload CSV on the second step and select the updated CSV file.
- Click Close.
Once the CSV file is uploaded successfully, you will now see the employees' Job Architecture fields assigned in their Directory profiles and on the Employee Pay page. As long as their Job Function, Job Type, Job Level, and (optionally) Pay Zone match an existing compensation band, employees will be assigned to their appropriate compensation band and you will also see these assignments on the Employee Pay page.
