Job architecture is the framework for understanding roles and their hierarchy within a company. In Lattice, job architecture is a combination of fields that determine an employee’s compensation band in our Compensation tool.
Job architecture is available as three required default fields and the optional field Pay Zone:
- Job function
- Job type
- Job level
- Pay zone (optional)
Because each compensation band is made up of a combination of job architecture fields, use the optional Compensation band name field to name each compensation band and make them easier to identify. Each compensation band must be uniquely identifiable by a combination of Job Function, Job Type, Job Level, and Pay Zone.

Align job architecture with compensation bands
- Create each compensation band with an assigned Job function, Job type, and Job level manually or via CSV upload.
- Assign employees to each compensation band by giving each employee a Job Function, Job Type, Job Level, and (if used) Pay Zone. This information can be seen and updated in the employees' profiles in the Directory, as well as in the Employee Pay page. Updating a user's Job Architecture values in either location will impact their compensation band assignment as well as any aligned Grow tracks.
