We understand the importance of first impressions, so Lattice provides two different tools to maintain and improve the onboarding experiences for your employees: Onboarding Surveys and Automated Onboarding Reviews.
What's the difference?
Onboarding Surveys and Automated Reviews make great compliments. At Lattice, our research shows a direct link between Performance and Engagement; therefore, the same connection exists between the onboarding process and early performance.
What's the main difference between Automated Onboarding Reviews and Onboarding Surveys?
- Automated Onboarding Reviews focus on the development needs of specific employees.
- Onboarding Surveys measure the overall effectiveness of your onboarding program.
Automated Onboarding Reviews
Automated Onboarding Reviews are more development-focused and evaluate the employee's early progress. Reviews are often conducted 30, 60, or 90 days after the employee's start date and include the manager's perspective on the new hire.
Onboarding Reviews give HR and managers a scope into whether an employee understands their role and the associated expectations and can be used to set an employee's benchmark for future performance evaluations.
Early development conversations after the review cycle are instrumental in ensuring they are on the right track for the next phase, moving from the onboarding phase to the development phase in the employee lifecycle.

Onboarding surveys
Onboarding Surveys measure the effectiveness of a company's overall onboarding process by giving People teams a chance to gather key feedback from employees with the freshest eyes.
Surveys are designed to give a holistic view of your organization's onboarding program and the hiring manager's performance. Is the employee satisfied with the onboarding process? Were there gaps in the process? Is additional training required?
With Onboarding Surveys, People teams can optimize the new hire experience for every employee using the unique and valuable perspective new hires have on their onboarding experience.
