The Participation tab within Pulse survey results includes two different metrics: participation and response rate. Learn more in Pulse Survey Analytics.
Note: The Participation scores graph reflects when the pulse surveys were submitted, rather than when they were created/sent out.
What is Response Rate?
We calculate Response rate as the number of responses submitted out of the total number of questions sent out. This information will be easily accessible from the Admin tab under reporting.
What is Participation Rate?
Participation is calculated by taking the number of people who have answered at least one question out of the total number of people who were sent a Pulse survey.
Example
You have 10 employees who are participating in your Pulse which sends out 5 questions. They have all received a Pulse but only 6 employees have answered at least one question. This would result in a participation rate of 60%.
Of those 6 employees, their responses were...
Employee 1: 5/5 questions answered
Employee 2: 3/5 questions answered
Employee 3: 1/5 questions answered
Employee 4: 4/5 questions answered
Employee 5: 2/5 questions answered
Employee 6: 1/5 questions answered
In total they were asked 30 questions (6 employees X 5 questions each), however, only 16 questions were answered. So the response rate would be 16/30=53%
