How to export a CSV or heatmap view of your pulse survey results
As an admin, you can directly share save views of your pulse survey results with other members of your team, or you can export survey results as a CSV or a heatmap. Once the anonymity threshold has been reached for your questions or themes, Survey Admins can view and export a CSV and/or heatmap at any time after the pulse survey is launched.
Exporting a CSV
To export a CSV of your survey results, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to Admin > Engagement > Pulse survey.
- Enter the Results tab.
- Toggle and select to view your data by theme or by questions.
Ensure it is on the List view. Then choose how you want to group your data (gender, department, etc.), what filters you want to be applied, and whether you want to see absolute scores or deltas. - Click Export CSV.
Pulse survey data
There are two headers within the Pulse results CSV:
- Number of Employees Responded: the number of employees that responded to at least 1 question associated with the question or theme
- Number of Submitted Responses: the total number of responses associated with the question or theme
For example:
Jess, Lily, and Mike were the only participants in the pulse survey. For the theme Team Culture, Jess responded to 1 question, Lily responded to all 5 questions and Mike responded to 0 questions. In that case:
- Number of Employees Responded = 2
- Number of Submitted Responses = 6
Exporting a Heatmap
To export a heatmap, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to Admin > Engagement > Pulse survey.
- Enter the Results tab.
- Toggle and select to view your data by theme or by questions. Ensure it is on the Heatmap view. Then choose how you want to group your data (gender, department, or other custom fields), what filters you want to be applied, and whether you want to see absolute scores or deltas. For example, we can look at how top performers are doing per office location.
- Click Export Heatmap.
- This heatmap export will be an excel file that looks the same as the heatmap in Lattice.
- You can export heatmaps for both Themes and Questions by toggling on the lefthand side and then clicking on "Export heatmap" on the right.
Why Would I Want to Export My Heatmap?
After exporting your heatmap to Excel, you can edit the Excel file in any way you choose, deleting unwanted columns or rows. It's easy to select the data you want to present and copy the cells into a PowerPoint presentation for an all-hands meeting or a leadership meeting.
