How to explore your results through the different filtering options
As an admin, you may want to view your pulse data grouped or filtered by different fields to discover insights about your people and organization.
Filtering through custom fields
On the Results page, you can filter your results by any field that you have uploaded to Lattice before the survey was launched. This includes default fields (gender, age, department, etc.) as well as custom fields (that you have customized and uploaded into Lattice), and various performance metrics.
To filter through field, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Pulse Surveys Analytics, select the Results tab
- Locate the filter bar at the top of the page
- Click on the filter icon
- Select and apply the desired custom fields
You can stack filters for different fields on top of each other to get to the exact cut of data that you want. For example, stacking Gender => Male and Department => Customer Success will show responses from all the men in the customer success department.
Within one field, selecting multiple options (like selecting both Engineering and Design from the Department field) will show people who are in Engineering OR Design.
Filtering through performance metrics
Similar to filtering by custom fields, you can drill down into multiple different directions to unlock insights of how employee performance connects to employee engagement. By filtering through rating questions and scored attributes from a specific review cycle, you answer questions such as:
- Do employees who rate their managers highly actually more engaged?
- Are employees who are rated highly by peers more engaged or not?
- Does a performance gap between the manager and reviewee (manager rated the employee lower than what the reviewee thought they were) have an impact on engagement?
To start uncovering these data insights, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Pulse Surveys Analytics, select the Results tab
- Navigate to Questions > Heatmap view.
- Select the Group By dropdown > Select Review Cycles and apply the desired performance metrics.
Filtering through time ranges
Similar to the custom fields filters, you can look at your results by filtering through a specific time range. You can select any of the preset time filters (30 days, 60 days, 365 days) or a custom time range.
To filter through time ranges, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Pulse Surveys Analytics, select the Results tab
- Locate and click on the Time Range bar
- Select and apply the desired time range
For a custom time range, select the start date and end date from the calendar. Ensure to hit the "Apply" button.
Comparing to previous time range.
When it comes to using time as a filter, you can also compare leverage time to compare Pulse Results from a specific time range to the previous time range. You can select any of the preset or custom time filters and then compare it to the previous time.
To compare to previous time period, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Pulse Surveys Analytics, select the Results tab
- Locate and set your Time Range bar
- Click on Compare and select Previous time period
For a specific pulse survey, select the start date and end for that specific calendar.
Exploring your results
When setting your filters, you can stack custom field filters and time filters, to better explore your survey results. After you set your filters, you can examine your results by question or by theme, in either a list format or heatmap view. You are able to either share a specific filter view or export your survey results into a CSV.
