Before you start
You can edit questions in templates until they're used in a review cycle. In this context, used means creating a review cycle that contains the template. You don't have to launch or end the review cycle for the template to lock and be designated as in use. Pre-launch reviews, cycles that you verify and create but haven't yet sent to employees, lock templates. To edit questions in in-use templates, please follow the steps in How to Edit a Question in an In-Use Template.
Similarly on the individual question level, once you create a question you can edit it until the question is used in a review cycle. You can edit all components of a question (response type, optionality, ...) until it's used in a review. Any changes made in the template will overwrite the question's previous configuration in the question bank and any other templates that contain the question.
Note: Templates that are in use will have a lock icon next to their name.
