When an admin changes an employee's manager, there may be some impact on Lattice products for the employee, their previous manager, and their new manager.
This article walks through the impact of a manager change on the following tools:
Reviews
Previous manager
- Previous managers will still be assigned to complete active downward reviews and share review packets.
- Admins can update manager responsibilities using the steps in Change Manager Responsibilities in a Review Cycle.
- If the previous manager has drafted or submitted a review before changing managers, their review will be permanently deleted once they are removed.
- Previous managers will have visibility into the employee's review packets that they were assigned review packet sharers for.
New manager
- New managers will have visibility into all previous review packets for their direct reports.
- New managers can view review cycle packets for active cycles created before the manager change once the review ends.
Goals
Previous manager
- Previous managers can still view private goals they created for their direct report.
- Previous managers cannot view private goals for the employee post-manager change.
New manager
- New managers can view all previous and current private goals the employee is assigned to or created.
Engagement
Previous manager
- Once an engagement survey is launched, survey analytic configurations are locked. Manager changes will not reflect in active or ended surveys.
- If an employee submits their response BEFORE their manager changes, the results will reflect their old manager. If an employee submits their response AFTER their manager changes, the results will reflect the new manager.
New manager
- New direct reports will not be added to their survey views if the survey was created before the manager change.

Updates
Previous manager
- Previous managers will not have visibility into past Update submissions.
New manager
- New managers will not have visibility into past Update submissions.
- If the change occurs in the middle of an Update period (ex., April 11-15), the direct report will be able to see the old manager's Update customized questions, however, the responses will be visible to the new manager.
Feedback
Previous manager
- Previous managers will not have visibility into manager only or private + manager feedback for the employee
New manager
- New managers will have visibility into past Manager Only or Private + Manager feedback for the employee.
Compensation
Previous manager
- If the previous manager was assigned to be a Recommender in a compensation cycle and has already submitted their recommendations, they will remain the Recommender and retain visibility into the cycle until it is ended.
- If the previous manager was assigned to be a Recommender in a compensation cycle and has not already submitted their recommendations, admins have the ability to reassign the Recommender role to a different individual in the Compensation cycle settings. This does not happen automatically and must be a manual action taken by the admin. For more information, see Can I change or edit recommenders or approvers?
New manager
- New managers will not be able to view compensation data while in an active compensation cycle if the manager change occurred after the cycle was created.
- If admin reassigns the Recommender role to this new manager, the new manager will be able to submit recommendations for their report.
- If statement Sharing has not yet been opened at the time of the manager change, the "direct managers share statements" option will assign the new assigned manager from the directory as Statement Sharer. If Sharing was already opened before the manager change, the statement sharer role cannot be modified without unsharing all statements.
