Admins can choose to limit the number of peer nominations per employee.
Before you start
The peer nomination limit applies to the number of peer reviewers that the reviewee or their manager can nominate (ex. if the limit is three, John Smith can only nominate three peer reviewers for himself or his direct report). Lattice does not limit how many times any one person can be nominated as a peer reviewer (ex. John Smith himself can be nominated by more than three of his peers or their managers). This design helps to avoid time of selection bias. If it was a limit for how many peer reviews an individual can write, the first three people to nominate John would block other employees from choosing John, even if those other employees worked more closely with John and he would be a more fitting reviewer for them.
Limit the number of peer nominations
- Start creating your review cycle
- When you reach the settings to configure peer reviewers, enter the number of nominations in the box next Limit number of peer reviewers reviewees can request.
- Enter the maximum number of peer reviewers that can be requested.
- Note: If you do not want to set a limit, leave this field blank. Inputting '0' will prevent employees from nominating any peers.
- Make any other desired configurations and click Save & continue.
Employee view while nominating peers
When an employee goes in to nominate peers, they will see that the number is limited. They can view this information by following the steps outlined below.
- Navigate to Performance > Performance reviews
- Select the button to the right of the cycle name
- Select the Nominate peers button
Note: Users will see a message at the top of the peer nomination page that says "Add up to (limited number) more peers"
As an admin, you also can override or add additional peer reviewers for anyone during the Review Cycle.
After nominations are complete, admins and managers will be prompted to approve them. If someone has been frequently selected for peer reviews, a peer selection warning banner appears to let managers or admins know that.
