You can set a question to private when configuring your questions. Private questions are hidden from the reviewee, usually due to being sensitive in nature (e.g. "Is this employee eligible for a promotion?"). Private questions are only visible to the admin and manager of the reviewee (managers of managers may also have visibility to those questions if given permission), regardless of the review's deliverable visibility settings.
Note: If a private question is added to a self review, the employee completing the review will be able to see the question because they are both the reviewee and the reviewer.
Create a private question
- Create a new question
- Navigate to Visibility and choose one of the following:
- Show question and response to reviewee
- Hide question and response from reviewee
Note: The question and response will still be visible to managers via the manager review packet by default.
How do private questions appear in a review?
Private questions will appear with a Hidden From Reviewee label when a reviewer responds to the question in a review cycle.
The admin and manager will see the response that they provided within the reviewee's review packet. The question will also be identified as private by the lock icon.
The employee will not see the question or the response when viewing their review packet. They will only see the reviewer's responses to the non-private questions that the reviewer responded to.
Upward Reviews
Managers cannot see their direct reports' responses to restricted visibility questions in upward feedback templates. Responses to those questions will only be visible to admins and the manager of the manager being reviewed.
