If an onboarding or exit survey expires before an employee submits it, admins can reopen the survey directly in Lattice. Reopening a survey gives the employee more time to respond while preserving the original survey and response data.
Before you start
- You can only reopen expired onboarding and exit surveys that have not yet been submitted. This is not available for Engagement or Pulse surveys.
- Submitted surveys cannot be reopened for additional edits.
- The Reopen action is available to both super admins and survey admins.
What happens when you reopen a survey?
When a survey is reopened:
- The employee regains access to complete the survey.
- The survey remains the same and the original survey data is preserved. No duplicate survey or response is created.
- If notification resend is enabled, reminder notifications follow the employee's existing notification preferences and opt-out settings.
Reopen an Individual Survey
- Navigate to Admin > Engagement > Surveys.
- Select the Onboarding or Exit survey.
- Navigate to Participation > Respondents.
- Locate a respondent with the Expired status.
- Select Reopen.
- In the confirmation dialog:
- Select a new Close date (defaults to 7 days from today).
- Choose whether to Resend notification (enabled by default).
- Optionally add a Custom message to include in the reminder email.
- Select Confirm.
The respondent's status changes from Expired to Pending, and they can submit their survey until the new close date.
To quickly locate expired respondents, use the Expired status filter on the Respondents table.
