When creating rating questions for your performance reviews, you can choose between displaying the rating scale as text or numbers. Providing both options allows admins to select how they want reviewers to assign a rating to their employees.
Before you start
The display you select for your rating scale will only impact manager and employee review packets. Displaying the rating scale as text options will still allow admins to analyze review results. Regardless of the display option selected, calibration score CSV downloads will show the associated number and not the text.
Selecting a display option
When creating a rating question, you will have the option to choose between two display options: Display rating scale as text options and Display rating scale as numbers. Hover your cursor over the circled "i" to the right for a preview of how this option will appear to review participants.
How rating questions appear
During Reviews
Display rating scale as numbers
When a reviewer writes their performance review, the scale will appear as numbers. Reviewers can see the text definition of rating scales displayed as numbers by hovering their cursor over each numeral.
Display rating scale as text
When you display the scale as text, employees will not see an associated numeric value. Likewise, hovering their cursor over the text does not reveal a scale number.
In Review Packets
Reviewees' review packets will also respect the display options you chose when creating the question. The display option you select will be how the question appears in the final review packet for the reviewee and their manager.
