A guide for managers as they set up update questions and cadence for their team.
Managers can use the Updates tool to get weekly insight on their direct reports. If your organization allows, managers can further customize by adjusting update settings and creating questions that you can apply on a team-wide or an individual level.
Note: Employees will be able to publish one update per frequency setting.
Before you start
- Admins must give managers permission to adjust team or individual settings before they can customize questions or reminder cadences.
- Changes made to Update questions are reflected in the current week's updates for those who still need to save a draft or publish their update.
- Reminders will be sent out at the selected time in each employee's set time zone. If no time zone is set, it will default to the company's set timezone.
Set up Updates for an individual direct report
- Navigate to My team.
- Within the left-hand navigation, select a direct report to enter their profile.
- Navigate to the Updates > Turn on Updates for [direct report].
- Toggle the Updates OFF button to Updates ON.
- (Optional) Customize the Update settings for the individual direct report by selecting Custom settings from the Updates dropdown:
- Edit the questions for the update
- Adjust the frequency, day, and time for update reminders
- Click Save.
Set up Updates for the team
- Navigate to My team > Updates > Settings.
- Toggle on Enable Updates for all direct reports.
- (Optional) Customize the Update settings for the individual direct report by selecting Custom settings from the Updates dropdown:
- Add, edit, remove, or move around the questions for the update
- Adjust the frequency, day, and time for update reminders (weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly)
- Click Save changes.
