Overview

There are several types of admin roles with varying levels of access to Compensation data and functionality:

  • Super Admin: this is an overall Lattice admin who has access to all data and functionality in Compensation, as well as every other product in Lattice. Ideally, there should only be one of these at any given time.

  • Compensation Admin Custom Role Owner (Global): this admin will be able to access all Compensation data and functionality, but will not be able to access any other Lattice product admin functions. Learn more in Configure Custom Role Compensation Permissions.

  • Manage Compensation Cycles Custom Role Owner (Targeted): this admin will be able to manage all compensation cycles and data for their employee subset, but will not be able to access any other Lattice product admin functions. Learn more in Configure Custom Role Compensation Permissions.

  • Compensation Cycle Admin: this is a role on a particular compensation cycle, and can be added by a Super or Manage Compensation admin during any part of the cycle. This role has access to all compensation data for participants of that cycle, as well as access to that cycle’s admin settings. This role will not have access to the broader compensation data or functionality outside of the specific cycle.

Set up Compensation Admin and Manage Compensation Cycles custom roles

To correctly set up Compensation custom roles, you must also assign visibility to Compensation employee fields.

  1. Navigate to Admin > Settings > People > Permissions.

  2. Enter the Custom roles tab.

  3. Click Create custom role.

  4. Under Role details, enter the custom role's Role name and Role description.

  5. Add the Role members that will be given the additional permissions:

    • Create a new group or select an existing group

    • Add individual employees

  6. Select the permissions the role owner(s) should have:

    • Compensation Admin (Global)

    • Manage Compensation Cycles (Targeted)

Assign visibility to Employee Fields for global role owners to view and manage compensation cycles

      1. Expand Targeted permissions.

      2. Define the employees the role owner should have access to by filters:

        • Manage Compensation Custom Role Owner (Global): Define all users by choosing Select all users.

        • Manage Compensation Cycles Custom Role Owner (Targeted): Define the subset of users by choosing the field the employees in the subset should be assigned

      3. Give View and Edit access to the following Employee fields:

        • Base pay amount

        • Bonus plan amount

        • Job function

        • Job level

        • Job type

        • Pay zone

        • Start date

        • Variable pay amount
