Calibration in a review cycle can occur at any time after the launch of the review cycle. Admins can adjust scores directly in Lattice or bulk-update using a CSV.
Before you start
You can make the calibration process more manageable by creating calibration groups and sharing review data with calibration contributors. However, due to the sensitivity of the data, only Lattice admins or those with a calibration custom role (link) can input calibrated scores. You can create a calibration custom role for any non-admin user you wish to give the necessary permission to calibrate for a selected group.
If you choose not to calibrate a reviewee's ratings, the reviewee will see the ratings the manager submitted for them within their review packet. Note, if you do not select calibrated scores, managers will be able to adjust scores when reopening reviews. Therefore, when calibrating, you’ll want to be sure to select a calibrated score, even if it is the same.
Please note that calibrated ratings have to be whole numbers. They cannot be decimals.
Calibrate directly within Lattice
Step 1: To calibrate during the review cycle writing phase, navigate to Admin > Scores > Calibration questions or Calibration groups.
Step 2: Click Calibrate to be taken to the calibration table.
The calibration table provides the following to help make calibration easier:
- Adding tags to reviewees
- Adding notes to reviewees
- Calibration groups
- Calibration participants
- Group visibility for participants
- Ability to hide columns
Step 3: Under All Reviewees or within their associated group, navigate to the reviewee you would like to calibrate for.
Step 4: Here, you will see their pre-calibrated rating. Under the Calibrated column, select the reviewee's new rating from the dropdown. The Delta indicates the difference between the pre-calibrated or calibrated rating.
Please note: If the review cycle is still active, the pre-calibrated rating may not be submitted yet, indicated by the Awaiting score status. Learn more about statuses in Calibration Table Statuses.
Step 5: Continue to scroll to the right until all of the questions' calibrated ratings have been entered.
