How to decide how you want to score your employees
As you think about how you want to evaluate your employees in your review cycle, you may decide it makes sense to score your employees on specific attributes based on a scale. In Lattice, there are two ways employees can be scored, via rating question or scored attribute.
Which one should I use?
Below is a list of things to start to consider when deciding how to score your employees:
Which reviewers should submit a rating?
If you want only the manager to submit a rating, use a scored attribute. Managers submit scored attributes (or anyone completing a manager review) during their downward review.
If you want multiple employees providing ratings, use rating questions. All review groups can submit a rating question. These scores are then averaged across respondents.
Do you want to have a calibration step?
If you want to have a calibration step, incorporate scored attributes. Calibration helps ensure that employees are all evaluated together on the same scale. This step comprises the scored attributes submitted by managers.
