How to configure your Pulse survey in eight simple steps
Step 1: Navigate to the Admin page on the discovery navigation and click on "Pulse."
Step 2: Set up your questions, we recommend the Lattice engagement questions, or you can create your own.
Step 3: Select the cadence for how your employees will be surveyed.

Step 4: Select the proper channels to reach your employees. From this same screen, you will also be able to select notifications settings.
Step 5: Select the Pulse survey admins, anonymity threshold, and launch date.
Step 6: "Data Check" here you will be able to see user attributes and any information to segment your Pulse survey. You can learn more about the data check here.
Step 7: "Verify" view a summary of the settings and configurations of your pulse. This will include the time when your Pulse will launch. Select "Done" to launch.
**Keep in mind if you want to launch a Pulse survey for the next business day, you will need to have your survey set up by 4 pm PST/7 pm EST
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do questions cycle through Pulse?
A: If your question bank has more questions than the set questions cadence, the algorithm will randomly select the questions asked. After the first pulse, the algorithm will do its best job to ensure that the next pulse questions are not duplicated. If your question bank is the same number of questions being asked on the set cadence, then the same questions will be asked on every pulse. If you have eNPS turned on, this question is considered part of the count, so if you have 5 questions on your question bank and a cadence of 5 questions, the eNPS question will be counted as one of those 5 questions, thus only choosing 4 questions from your question bank.
Q: Why did my team member receive different questions in their Pulse?
A: Each pulse will be composed of a different set of randomized questions for each employee. The reason behind this is that, as with a heart monitor, Pulse is meant to ask questions randomly to give you a constant and truthful monitor of employee happiness and engagement.
Q: When is my Team receiving a Pulse?
A: Our algorithm looks at time zone, among other factors, to be able to Pulse employees at different times throughout the working hours of a day. Every 15 minutes, the algorithm will consider the number of employees and the set time cadence to decide when and which employees to Pulse. If you have 100 employees and the cadence is set to monthly, then all employees will receive a pulse sometime throughout the month, but not all at the same time.
Q: What happens if someone's manager, department, or other employee data changes after I've launched a pulse survey?
A: Lattice captures demographic info (manager, department, etc.) a couple of times: first, at the time of sending the Pulse, and second, at the time of response. Please note, the second data check overrides the first. This means if an employee submits their response BEFORE their manager has changed, the results will reflect their old manager. If an employee submits their response AFTER their manager has changed, the results will reflect the new manager. The employee data will accurately reflect both the participation and results analytics.
