Using custom user attributes to automatically assign and reflect changes to employee level titles
Lattice allows you to use both default and custom attributes to sync each employee's level automatically. Auto-sync helps remove the duplicative work of manually updating an employee when they move into a different level within their job role.
Please note: Best practice is to only auto-sync levels if your organization already manages your employee levels through an attribute; otherwise, levels should be updated manually.
Before you start
Auto-syncing job levels allow employees to automatically move levels within their assigned track. If an employee moves to a different track, the track change will need to be updated manually.
Auto-sync Job Levels
Create the Custom Attribute
The first step is to create a multiple-choice custom attribute that directly identifies the level of the user. The attribute's values will be used to link to each Grow level.
Once the attribute has been created, you will need to assign the attribute (levels) to your employees.
Map the attribute to Grow
After assigning the attribute to your employees, you will need to connect the attribute to Grow. Connecting the attribute will automatically assign and reflect changes to employee levels via nightly sync.
Step 1: Navigate to Admin > Grow > Settings.
Step 2: Under Auto-sync job levels with a custom attribute, select the attribute you are connecting to job levels and Save.
Step 3: To ensure all values are updated within Lattice, manually sync by selecting Sync.
Link levels to Grow
Once the attribute has been synced with Grow, you must link each track's job levels to the connected attribute values.
Step 1: Enter your track.
Step 2: Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select Manage job levels.
Step 3: Map each title with its accompanying level and then select Update levels.
Next, assign your employees to the track. Employees will have their level automatically assigned depending on their assigned job level attribute's value.
