Enabling auto-generation of employee IDs allows Lattice to create unique IDs for employees instead of admins manually assigning employee IDs.
Before you start
- If auto-generation is enabled, the employee ID field within the CSV upload is not needed.
- This feature can be enabled when no employees have been uploaded to your Lattice account or if all pending and active employees have an employee ID added. Auto-generated employee IDs can only be enabled once all existing employees have been assigned an ID value.
- Once an employee ID is generated, it cannot be edited.
Enable Auto-Generated Employee IDs
- Navigate to Admin > Settings.
- Select Company > Settings.
- Scroll down to the Employee ID section and toggle on Employee ID.
- Select Save.

Navigate back to the Employee ID section and input a value in the Next generated ID field.
Note: Letters or leading zeros (Ex. 0001) are not supported for auto-generation.
