You can set a question to private (or "restricted visibility") when configuring your questions. Private questions are usually sensitive in nature, (i.e. "Is this employee eligible for a promotion or a raise?"). Private questions are only visible to the admin and manager of the reviewee, regardless of the review's deliverable visibility settings.
Create a private question
Option 1: Create a question from the Question Bank
Step 1: Navigate to Admin > Reviews > Questions.
Step 2: Click Create question to bring up the editing modal.
Option 2: Create a question from a review template
Step 1: Navigate to Admin > Reviews > Templates > Create new template.
Step 2: Click + Create question to bring up the editing modal.
Restrict Visibility
When creating a new question, you will see the option to mark a question as private by toggling on Restrict Visibility.
How do private questions appear in a review?
Private questions will appear with a lock icon when a reviewer responds to the question in a review cycle. Hovering over the icon informs the reviewer that only the manager and the admin will view the response, not the reviewee.
The admin and manager will see the response that they provided within the reviewee's review packet. The question will also be identified as private by the lock icon.
The employee will not see the question or the response when viewing their review packet. They will only see the reviewer's responses to the non-private questions that the reviewer responded to.
Upward Reviews
Managers cannot see their direct reports' responses to restricted visibility questions in upward feedback templates. Responses to those questions will only be visible to admins and the manager of the manager being reviewed.
