Why are Competencies Valuable?

Competencies are an important way to not only give employees a clear vision of how to get to the next level in their job track but also to help your team effectively customize internal training as well as recruit and assign staff. They are a great way to evaluate performance and identify any skill gaps more efficiently.

There are two ways to create competencies within Lattice.

How to Create Competencies Within the "Competencies" Section

Step 1: Navigate to the "Admin" tab at the top of your Lattice

Step 2: Select "Competencies" under "Grow" on the left-hand panel

Step 3: Click "Create competency"

Step 4: Add a name for your competency

Step 5: (Optional) Include a description of how you will measure your competency and select to add it to a particular draft job track or all draft job tracks

Step 6: Select "Create competency"

How to Create Competencies Within the "Tracks" Section

Step 1: Navigate to the "Admin" tab at the top of your Lattice

Step 2: Select "Tracks" under "Grow" on the left-hand panel

Step 3: Click into the draft job track of interest

Step 4: Create a competency by selecting "+" to the right of "Competencies"

Step 5: Add a name for your competency and select enter

Step 6: (Optional) Include a description

Step 7: Select "Add competency"

To reorder the competencies, select the gear icon in the right-hand corner and click "Reorder competencies"
