Once a review cycle is in the Peer Selection phase, employees and managers will have the ability to nominate peer reviewers. After nominations are complete, admins and managers will be prompted to approve them. Sometimes, the warning banner appears to let managers or admins know that someone has been frequently selected for peer reviews.

Why is the Peer Selection Warning Banner Important?

We believe that employees who are writing five or more peer reviews, can experience review fatigue. Additionally, these reviewers may not have enough time to give valuable feedback to all peers. In order to achieve high quality feedback, we have enabled a warning banner that will help prevent review fatigue when it comes to peer reviews.

This banner will show up when the employee being selected as a potential peer reviewer has surpassed the peer nomination limit that was set when configuring the Review Cycle.

Note: This is a warning banner and doesn't actually prevent an individual from requesting or approving a highly nominated peer reviewer.

Setting the limit of Peer Nominations

When creating a review cycle, an admin can set a limit for peer nominations in the "advanced options", within the Review Settings tab, as shown below.

An admin can also edit the peer selection limit in an active review cycle.

Note: If there is not set limit for a review cycle, the banner will appear when an employee has been nominated five or more times.

When Does the Peer Selection Warning Banner Appear?

This banner will show up when a selected peer reviewer has reached the limit of peer nominations. This can show up in three places:

  1.  When employees are selecting their peer reviewers
  2.  When managers are approving and selecting peer nominations
  3.  When admins are overriding peer nominations

When employees are selecting their peer reviewers

If an employee nominates a peer that has already been nominated, the employee will see the following banner as they select that highly nominated peer reviewer.

When managers are approving and selecting peer nominations

If a manager is approving peer selections for a direct report who is selected as a highly nominated peer reviewer, the manager will see the following banner as they look to approve and override peer nominations.

When admins are overriding peer nominations

The same behavior will occur when an admin overrides any peer nomination.
