Happy Friday! I know this is our second update this week, but we just couldn’t help ourselves :)
Product Updates for Admins
In your admin view for Updates, we now are going to provide you with more analytics on how employees are using and engaging with the Updates tool in Lattice. To access the dashboards in Lattice, go to Admin > Updates > Reporting.
Note: we will be releasing dashboards for all of our tools over the next few months, so stay tuned!
Here’s more detail on the different graphs:
- Sentiment: the Sentiment graph will show you the average sentiment per group over a period of time.
- Published: the Published graph will show you the number of Updates published per group over a period of time.
- Reviewed: the Reviewed graph will show you the number of Updates that were reviewed by managers for a specific group over a period of time.
When viewing the graphs, you can add more groups by clicking on the “+” sign:
You can also makes group visible or invisible on the graph by clicking on the grouping name:
Here’s more detail on Groupings and Time Range:
- Group by: you can adjust how your information is being grouped by clicking on the “Group by” filter. Here, you will see a list of all employee fields that are currently in Lattice, including any custom fields that you may have created.
- Time range: this allows you to adjust over what period of time you are analyzing the data. You can choose different set timeframes or a custom range.
Below the graphs, you will find an audit table of all the data you have filtered for:
Custom Relationships (Dotted line manager
Our Custom Relationships tool allows you to set a specific relationship between two people in an organization. For example, if there is one individual who has two managers, this will allow you to give both of those managers equal visibility into that one employee’s profile.
To create a Custom Relationship, go to Admin > People > Custom Fields > Create custom field. From here, enter the field name and choose “Custom relationship”. The field name should represent what type of visibility this field is giving, ie: “Dual Manager Visibility” or “Onboarding Manager”.
To set the permissions for this role, go to Admin > People > Permissions > Custom Field relationships.
Click "Configure" next to the relationship and you can decide which information the individual has visibility into for that employee.
Once you’ve set up the field and set the permissions, you’ll now be able to apply the field through a CSV upload. To export your CSV out of Lattice, go to Admin > People > Export CSV. You’ll now see a column with a title matching the field you just created. In the column, next to each employee, you would indicate the email of the person who should have that visibility.
Upload the CSV back into Lattice and that individual will now have full visibility into the employee’s profile that they are associated with in the CSV. You can also update the custom field by editing a specific employee’s profile in Lattice.
The employee who has been granted visibility, will now be able to view these individuals on their Your Team page in Lattice.

Note: if you have Lattice synced up with your HRIS, you will still set these relationships using the steps above.
Our Custom Roles tool allows you to give other individuals at your company access into the Admin panel in Lattice based on specific groups of people. Additionally, you can determine if they should have just visibility into those individuals or if they can also take actions for those individuals. For example, if you have HRBPs who you’d like to set in Lattice to only have visibility into their specific group, you can now set this using Custom Roles.
To set up a Custom Role, go to Admin > People > Permissions > Create Custom Role. From here, you will title the role and choose who the role should apply to.
In the “Permissions” section, you will determine who they are able to see. You can group employees by department or by any custom field that you have created.
Below then, you’ll set what exactly they can see/do for that group of people by specific tool.
Once you’ve create the role, the person will now see an Admin profile page, but will only have visibility and capabilities on that page based on what you set for their role.

Product Update for Everyone
Manager and Manager of Manager Dashboards
Similar to the admin view, we are also going to be releasing dashboards to managers and managers of managers in their Your Team page. To navigate to the dashboards, managers will go to Your Team > Updates > Reporting. They will get the same views as the admin dashboard, except only for the individuals on their team (so there will be no option for them to group by different categories). They will be able to adjust the time period.
Regardless of the top down visibility you've set, managers of managers will be able to see the whether an update was published or reviewed and its sentiment. However, they won’t be able to see the content of the specific update.
