When creating a review cycle, you may want to assign different templates for different users based on a user attribute (an identifying factor such as location or role). You can create a custom template prior to setting up the review cycle, or you can use our default templates!

To use a user attribute in a review cycle, all you have to do is follow these steps:

Step 1: Make sure that your user attribute has been created
You can follow step-by-step instructions showing you how to set up a user attributes here! Please note that during review cycle creation, this is referred to as a user field.

Step 2: In the Admin panel, click on "Reviews" found in the left-hand panel and "Create new cycle"

Step 4: Select all "Reviewees" you would like to be reviewed in this cycle

Step 5: Under "Reviewers," first select your default templates
If a Reviewee does not have information in the selected user attribute, they will fill out the default templates.

Step 6: Scroll down and click "Enable" to select templates for each review group based on user attributes

Step 7: Use the drop-down menu to select the user attribute you would like to assign a custom template to

Once you have made your selection, you will be shown the number of employees who do not have this user attribute and will be given the default template.

Step 8: Select your templates
After you have selected how you want to customize your review cycles (such as using a custom field for location or department), you will see the options from the user attribute expand below.

You can then use the arrow on the right of the attribute to expand each group and make new template selections.

Step 9: Save your selections

Remember to verify your selections before you launch your review!

Note: To ensure that each employee is assigned the correct review template(s), the user attribute must be accurately assigned before launching the review cycle. You can manage and update your organization's user attributes through a CSV upload.
